Here are the accumulation of our best solutions from supporting customers and our experience. Follow these and you’re guaranteed to have success!

Problem #1: How to hang a painting without damaging your wall, the picture, or its frame?

When your thinking like an expert, you become aware of many limitations of positioning your artwork so that it"s shown in its best light. An example of this is that you need to work around studs in the wall, located behind the gyproc, and they are not easy to locate. Or your house may be an 1890’s double brick cottage where your walls crumble away every time you drill into them.

The expertanswer is: throw away your nails, screws and hammer. Instead, get in contact with your local supplier for a permanent picture hanging system. You can install the rail yourself or they canput it in for you.

Considering how simple and easy it will be to hang up your pictures in the future with your very own picture hanging system, the once-off small expense is worth it.

The hanging system consists of a rail that is clicked on to smallrectangle plastic connectors that are drilled into the higher part of your wall with a screw and wall plug. This ensures that no matter what surface, it will be stable.

Hanging down from the rail, otherwise known as a rod or a track, is a clear perlon wire with hooks that are movableup and down them. These perlon wires are like a fishing line and can come in transparent clear (which is our favourite), or you can chose to have a silver wire and show it off. The hooks move up and down the wire easily, which means you can hang your prints at any height. The wire willalso slide along the rod so that you are able to hang up your painting, artwork or photo anywhere along the wall and put multiple pictures on each wire. How easy is that!

Problem #2: How to work out how many hooks your photo, print, painting, or wall sculpture will need.

It’s easiest to use two hooks per picture or artwork.

    That will
ensure that your piece is balanced and wont move over time. If your print has d-hooks on the back, attach the hooks that are attached to your perlon wire onto each d-hook. It’s more effective than attaching it to the string at the back of an artwork as this can then move around and it balances much better.

Problem # 3: How do I make sure the pictures are hanging at the right level?

Forpiecesof the same size it really works to have them hang at the same height. Here the experts answer ablsolutely is: “Throw away your nails and install a hanging system.”

With your own picture hanging system you can easily move the hooks along the perlon wire up and down so that you can make all pictures hang at the same level. It’s very easy to slide the perlon wire to the left or the right so that there is the samedistance between each painting or document that your hanging. It provides harmony and balance when the space between the pieces is the same and makes the environment that your in much more appealing to be in.

Problem # 4: Is there a proper height that I should hang the paintings, documents, prints or photos at?

Once you have installed a picture hanging system it’s easy to move around and practice different positions to hang the pieces at varying heights to see what looks the best.

Firstly, consider whether the artwork will mainly be viewed from a standing or sitting position. To do this, hang the pictures in different places and sit or stand in different positions in your room to see the effect and what works the most. We’ve written a special article that tackles this issue. (The link will be inserted shortly)

Problem # 5: How to find the right place for my special painting?

The nicest painting can look terrible if it doesn"t fit well in the room or with the other pictures. The colour might not match, the styles might clash, it might not fit with the furniture or be too large for the spot that you"ve put it in. The experts will always say, your first port of call is a bit of trial and error. This often gives surprising results and takes away the time consuming labour of colour and pattern matching.

Here are some general rules to go by to get you started.

    - If you have a small piece, it works best to put it in a small area or hang other smaller matching pictures around it to make it feel fuller.- If you have an assortment of small pieces, you can combine prints, mirrors, photos, and even include empty picture frames. When arranging an art collection on a wall, consider the colours involved, the sizes of each and the styles or patterns ineach piece. Having the wall be too crowded can actually take away from the wall and make it worse than having nothing at all, but you also don"t want it be incomplete or uneven. Again, try some different arrangements.
    Here,
if your using anart hanging system this is a great solution, as experimenting is easy and you can move things around and change your mind later on easily as your not hammering in any nails and it leaves no lasting residue. So this is one area that you can be fickle, and play around to your hearts content.
